The Forum - La Crosse Highway Construction and DOT Update

The La Crosse Area Chamber of Commerce invites you to our July Monthly Forum, focusing on the vital La Crosse Corridor construction projects. This month's discussion will specifically highlight the US 53 and US 14/61 Corridor Study.

 

We are pleased to host Michael Richardson, Major Studies Project Manager at the Wisconsin DOT, on July 21st at noon. Mr. Richardson will provide our membership with a crucial update on the US 53 and US 14/61 Corridor project.

 

This forum is essential for the business community, as these projects are anticipated to have significant impacts on downtown La Crosse and local traffic flow during their construction phases, and thereafter. The current study for the US 53 and US 14/61 Corridor encompasses the area from WIS 35 (West Ave.) to I-90.

 

In December 2021, the Wisconsin Transportation Project Commission approved the department to study new alternatives that address safety, congestion and maintain a state of good repair on US 53, US 14/61, WIS 35 and WIS 16 in La Crosse. The corridor will be split as three separate studies as detailed below.

 

WIS 35 Corridor: The second PIM for the WIS 35 corridor was held January 14, 2025. For more information about past public involvement, please visit the public involvement page.

US 53 and US 14/61 Corridor: The second PIM for the US 53 and US 14/61 corridor is scheduled for Wednesday July 16 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Black River Beach Neighborhood Center (Maplewood Room), 1433 Rose Street, La Crosse, WI 54603.

WIS 16 Corridor: WisDOT anticipates the first public involvement for the WIS 16 Corridor to be held in late 2025.
